Family History
This site represents our ancestors and many of their relatives based on several years of research. The effort was inspired my my mother’s first cousin, Lillian Rose Bridgman, known as Auntie Rosie, who took an active interest in the family history. She prepared a number of family tree charts. I followed this by searching for census returns, documents etc in the UK, made much easier when much of it was published online. Later I tried to extend this to Quebec and Newfoundland research. Newfoundland is difficult because many records were lost to fire. Quebec ancestry is greatly aided by the practice of the church of recording every important event from the first settlers on. In particular the PRDH – Programme de recherche en démographie historique in Montreal has done an outstanding job of collecting and connecting family data from Quebec often back to the New France settlers. The site contains family group pages for each person in the database, 2862 in total. Each of these people is connected to an interactive chart which you can navigate. Starting with this home page, either choose someone from the index (top right icon) or go directly to the group page for the starting person (the sillhouette icon). You can reach the interactive tree by clicking the tree icon on a persons page. Other sections contain a number of stories of interest and some recorded voices to show regional dialects. The Gallery contains digitized photos, annotated, collected from various family source.
